Open House Honors Retiring Law Dean Hines
An open house in honor of retiring University of Iowa Law School Dean N. William Hines will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 12 in the Levitt Center for University Advancement. Admission is free and open to the public.
Hines is wrapping up his 28-year tenure as dean of the College of Law, the longest tenure in the history of the law school and the longest tenure of any current U.S. law school dean. He will become a full-time faculty member following his retirement and in 2005 serve as president of the Association of American Law Schools, the premiere organization advocating for legal education in the United States.
His last day as dean is June 30. His replacement, Carolyn Jones, takes over as dean July 1. A native of Carroll, Iowa, Jones is a 1979 graduate of the UI College of Law.
