Law Student Organization Provides Bowls for Souper Bowl
The University of Iowa Organization for Women Law Students and Staff (OWLSS) is donating 300 bowls for the Domestic Violence Intervention Program (DVIP) seventh annual Souper Bowl fundraiser from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29 at the Holiday Inn and Conference Center in Coralville.
OWLSS members collected 120 bowls during a bowl drive and purchased the remaining bowls with money raised during a four-day bake sale at the UI College of Law. The OWLSS will be selling tickets to the Souper Bowl at the main entrance to the Boyd Law Building Tuesday through Thursday this week from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition, members of the OWLSS will be the celebrity servers at the Souper Bowl event Thursday night.
The OWLSS were inspired to support DVIP as their service project following
a presentation by Lois Cox, a UI Legal Clinic professor and DVIP board member.
DVIP is a United Way agency and relies on private donations to provide services to children and adults affected by violence.
DVIP provided counseling and shelter services to more than 1,000 adults and children last year. Confidential information and assistance is available 24 hours a day at 319-351-1043 or toll free at 1-800-373-1043.
