Dec. 9 Reading Features New UI Translations

The University of Iowa Department of Cinema and Comparative Literature and the UI International Writing Program (IWP) will present a free reading of recently completed translations at 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9 in the Shambaugh House.

The translations are English renderings of Sulpicia (Latin, first century BCE), Song Young (Korean, 20th century), Vlado Bulic (Croatian, 20th century), Jan Peter (German, 20th century), Ye Xie (Chinese, 17th century), Zhang Xian (Chinese, 20th century), Sami Berdugo (Hebrew, 21st century), and an anonymous Latin text from the 12th century.

Zhang and Berdugo were both participants in the IWP this past fall.

The translators are Adrienne Ho, Jason Park, Tomislav Kuzmanovic, Eugene Sampson, Haihong Yang, Li Guo, Shira Dentz and Christopher Burgess.

Shambaugh House, the headquarters of the IWP, is at 430 N. Clinton St. on the UI campus.
