Nonprofit Management Academy Launches 2004-05 Seminar Series
The Nonprofit Management Academy announces the first monthly seminar in its yearlong series for 2004-05. "Leadership and Governance of Nonprofit Organizations" will be presented Tuesday, Sept. 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Coral Ridge Mall Community Room, 1451 Coral Ridge Avenue, Coralville.
This seminar will focus on methods for building and sustaining leadership within nonprofit organizations through teams of empowered staff and volunteers. It will examine the ethics of leadership and the differences between management and leadership. Participants will learn how to improve their organizations by their own actions and those of others.
The trainer for the session is Willard "Sandy" Boyd, University of Iowa president emeritus and co-director of the University of Iowa's Iowa Nonprofit Resource Center.
The fee for the seminar is $50, and CEU credits are available; participants may enroll in individual courses or a program leading to a Certificate in Nonprofit Management.
The Nonprofit Management Academy is a joint project sponsored by the Women's Resource and Action Center (WRAC) and the Iowa Nonprofit Resource Center at The University of Iowa, Iowa State University Extension, United Way of Johnson County, Iowa Shares, and the Iowa Women's Foundation.
