UI Oral And Maxillofacial Surgeon Receives National Award
Teresa A. Morgan, D.D.S., an oral and maxillofacial surgeon at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, has received a national faculty education development award from the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
The 3i-Implant Innovations, Inc. Faculty Educator Development Award was established in 2001 to encourage talented young people to choose an academic career in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery; encourage promising faculty members to continue their academic careers; and provide financial incentives to accredited dental schools and residency programs to retain and recruit oral and maxillofacial surgery faculty.
The financial aspect of the award provides Morgan with funds to use for student loan repayment. The Department of Hospital Dentistry at UI Hospitals and Clinics will receive a one-time $10,000 award for her career development.
Morgan, an assistant professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery in the UI College of Dentistry, will officially be recognized Sept. 29 at the AAOMS national meeting in San Francisco.
Kirk Fridrich, D.D.S., director of Hospital Dentistry at UI Hospitals and Clinics, said he was pleased that Morgan received the award. "She is an exemplary member of the Hospital Dentistry team and very deserving of this prestigious recognition," he said.
