Major UI Facilities Unit Changes Name
A major service unit on the University of Iowa campus is changing its name. After Sept. 1, Facilities Services Group will be known as Facilities Management.
The unit, which employs more than 600 staff, is responsible for the planning,
construction, operation and maintenance of general fund-supported academic
and administrative support buildings, most campus grounds, and all utility
Facilities Management and its departments will keep the same telephone numbers and addresses.
"Changing a name is serious business," said Don Guckert, associate vice president and director of facilities. "We are moving toward being an organization with an integrated, comprehensive approach to planning, building, operating, and servicing the special places that support the academic mission of the University of Iowa."
