Theatre Department Holds Public Auditions At UI Aug. 25-29

The University of Iowa Department of Theatre Arts will hold public auditions for early-season productions and readings Aug. 25-29 in the UI Theatre Building.

General auditions will be 7-11 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, Aug. 25-27 in Theatre B, with callbacks in various rooms on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 28 and 29.

An optional Audition Workshop will be offered at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 24 in Theatre B.

Shows that will be cast from these auditions are the University Theatres Mainstage productions of "The Good Person of Setzuan" and the Partnership in the Arts premiere of "Muro-Ami," as well as numerous Gallery series and workshop productions, and several readings.

No affiliation with the theater department or the UI is required to participate in UI theater productions. Actors of all ages and levels of experience are encouraged to audition. The department observes a policy of color-blind casting.

Interested persons can sign up for an audition time on the main callboard in the north hallway of the Theatre Building. Walk-ins may sign a waiting list at the auditions.

All auditioners should prepare one or two monologues, with a total time not to exceed three minutes, and should bring a headshot or recent photo.

Descriptions of the individual plays will be posted on the Theatre Building callboards, and perusal scripts will be available in the main office of the department.
