UI Dance Department Presents Undergraduate Concert April 29-31
The University of Iowa Dance Department will present its spring Undergraduate Concert at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 29, through Saturday, May 1, in the Space/Place Theatre of North Hall.
Eight works have been selected through an adjudication process:
Alan Sener, chair of the Dance Department, notes that the concert features a remarkably wide range of music: "'Carrion' has Radiohead and Tom Waits, "I'm here" is Sylvia Plath text mixed with a Michael Gordon piece called 'Industry,' then there's a little Jerome Kern and George Gershwin in 'Over Dress,' and even some Pink Floyd in 'Coming Out Of The Darkness,' a little Johnny Cash and Van Morrison, easing into Rachmaninoff and winding it up with some 'Chinese Bird Flu: Ten Thousand Chickens on the Chopping Block' by Dave Strackney and Evan Mazunik. Wow!"
Tickets for the Undergraduate Concert will be $10 ($5 for UI students). Audience members under 12 years of age will be admitted free.
Tickets may be purchased in advance from the University Box Office in the Iowa Memorial Union.
