UI WISE Program Presents Poster Awards
The University of Iowa Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) program recently presented two UI Professional and Scientific Staff members with $250 WISE Staff Poster Awards.
Recipients for 2004 are:
-- Katherine (Kate) Excoffon, postdoctoral research scientist, "The Coxsackie and Adenovirus Receptor PDZ Binding Domain Plays a Role in Cell Adhesion and Growth," winner in Basic Science category, Department of Internal Medicine, Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine.
-- Donghong Wang, research assistant, "Prevalence and Persistence of HPV in Postmenopausal Aged Women," Epidemiology, winner in Translational/Clinical Science category, College of Public Health and the Veterans' Affairs Medical Center.
The fourth annual WISE Poster Awards were presented in conjunction with the March 30-April 1 College of Medicine/College of Public Health/Veterans' Administration Hospital Research Week. The posters were judged by UI staff members during an open session and the awards given in recognition of the "high level of academic competence and intellectual investment of UI staff members in independent or faculty-directed research." The awards were given with support from UI Staff Council, the College of Medicine, the College of Public Health, and the Veterans' Affairs Medical Center.
