UI Pediatrician Will Speak At Forum On Child Abuse Today
Prevent Child Abuse-Johnson County will present the first annual Forum on Child Abuse from 4 to 6 p.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 23, at the Coralville Public Library. Admission is free to the public.
The keynote speaker will be Resmiye Oral, M.D., University of Iowa assistant professor of pediatrics and Director of the UI Child Protection Program. The topic of her speech is "Drug-Endangered Children in Iowa."
Displays about resources available to families will be presented by 4Cs Child Care Resource and Referral, Girl Scouts of the Mississippi Valley, Rape Victim Advocacy Program, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Johnson County, Crisis Center, Nest of Johnson County, United Action for Youth, Community Mental Health Center for Mid-Eastern Iowa, and Neighborhood Centers of Johnson County.
Prevent Child Abuse-Johnson County is the local chapter of Prevent Child Abuse-Iowa. The organization works to promote awareness of child abuse as well as strives to provide resources to children in need.
