'Planning and Facilitating Effective Meetings' Workshop Offered Sept. 20
The Social Change Training Program of the Women's Resource and Action Center (WRAC) at the University of Iowa will kick off this year's series of workshops and seminars with a session focused on planning and facilitating effective meetings. The workshop will be Saturday, Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Lucas Dodge Room of the Iowa Memorial Union on the University of Iowa campus.
Goals of the workshop include teaching practical skills for making effective group decisions, clarifying positions and roles in decision-making groups and providing an overview of the spirit of Roberts Rules of Order. Trainers for the workshop will be Jay Brewer, executive director of the Iowa Respite and Crisis Care Coalition, and Monique DiCarlo, WRAC's director.
"So much community and social justice work is accomplished in meetings, so it's critical that everyone has access to learning these important leadership skills," explains DiCarlo. "Jay and I will provide a practical workshop, from which participants can immediately apply what they learn."
The fee for the workshop is $10; pre-registration is required. For more information, or to register, please call the Women's Center at 319-335-1486.
