Visiting Professor Comes To UI College Of Nursing
The University of Iowa College of Nursing and its Adult and Gerontological Nursing area of study are hosting visiting professor Hermann Brandenburg, Ph.D., through Sept. 25.
Brandenburg is assistant dean of the nursing department and professor of gerontology and nursing science at Catholic University of Applied Sciences in Freiburg, Germany. His research focus is on independence and autonomy in old age, quality indicators in nursing homes and theoretical and methodological problems in nursing science.
Brandenburg has been at the UI College of Nursing since Aug. 5. In addition to providing guest lectures and dialoguing with research faculty, Brandenburg is teaching two elective short courses on aging topics. He is also interested in comparing nursing homes and ambulatory care settings since health issues in Europe and the United States are similar even though the health systems are different.
