Oct. 23, 2003

Deadline Is Nov. 1 For Belin-Blank Student Talent Search Registration

The deadline is fast approaching for parents who want to register their children for the University of Iowa's Belin-Blank Exceptional Student Talent Search (BESTS).

Applications must be postmarked by Nov. 1. Families who submit forms after this deadline may be assessed a $15 late fee.

This year, registration can be done online by visiting http://www.uiowa.edu/~belinctr/talent-search/index.html

BESTS is an academic talent search designed to provide above-level testing and student program opportunities for talented students in grades 4 through 12. Its goal is to discover students who need further educational challenges to fully realize their academic talent.

For 10 years the Belin-Blank Center has successfully identified more than 30,000 academically gifted students through programs like BESTS. These students and their parents benefit from an array of services offered by the Belin-Blank Center, from academic planning assistance to special programs offered by the Center throughout the year.

Test dates for the upcoming registration period are:

SAT I (grades 7-9)
* Dec. 6, 2003
* Jan. 24, 2004
* March 27, 2004

EXPLORE (grades 4-6)
* Jan. 31, 2004
* Feb. 28, 2004

ACT Assessment (grades 7-9)
