UI College Of Pharmacy To Mark National Pharmacy Week Oct. 19-25

Several events are scheduled in the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy as part of National Pharmacy Week, Oct. 19-25.

UI pharmacy students will volunteer at the Free Medical Clinic in Iowa City on Monday, Oct. 20 and Thursday, Oct. 23.

On Tuesday, Oct. 21 pharmacy students will staff an informational table at the Iowa Memorial Union to promote pharmacy as a career.

First-year pharmacy students have sponsored Dick Hartig, owner of Hartig Drug Company Inc., to speak on the benefits of owning a pharmacy. Hartig's talk will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22 in Zopf Auditorium (Room 100A) in the UI Pharmacy Building.

On Thursday, Oct. 23 the college will host a scholarship luncheon at UI Hospitals and Clinics, beginning at 11:30 a.m. At 4 p.m., the Pre-Pharmacy Club will hold a meeting in Zopf Auditorium (Room 100A) in the UI Pharmacy Building.

UI members of the Academy of Students of Pharmacy (ASP) will provide cookies for all pharmacy students Friday, Oct. 24.

On Saturday, Oct. 25 UI members of the Rho Chi Society, the national academic honor society in pharmacy, will join UI medical, nursing and public health students in staffing the UI Mobile Clinic in Columbus Junction. The clinic is a student-run, community-centered health care treatment and education project.

The UI College of Pharmacy Office of Academic Affairs will provide current pharmacy students with chocolate and hold a free daily raffle for Iowa Hawkeye gear during the week.
