International Mondays To Host Discussion On Post-War Iraq Oct. 6
International Mondays continues its weekly series with a discussion on post-war Iraq titled, "The U.N. and Iraq, Where Are We Now?" Wayne Osborn, president of Iowa United Nations Association and professor emeritus from Iowa State University, along with Katy Hansen, executive director of the Iowa United Nations Association, will speak from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6 in the International Center Lounge.
The lecture is free and open to the public. A light lunch will be served.
The war in Iraq started after a worldwide discussion among the people and negotiations within the United Nations, according to Hansen. Now, six months after the U.S. went into Iraq with coalition forces, the U.S. has again approached the United Nations to authorize help with its military operations and reconstruction. This lecture will analyze what stage the negotiations are in and what it means for the United Nations.
