UI Arts Share Program Sponsors Workshops In Fort Dodge Nov. 13
The University of Iowa Arts Share program is sending artist and graphic designer Craig Kelchen to Central Community College and the Blanden Museum in Fort Dodge to teach three separate book-arts workshops on Thursday, Nov. 13.
The workshop at Iowa Central Community College (330 Ave. M) is from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The workshops in the Blanden Museum (915 3rd St. South) are 3:30-5 p.m. for Junior High Art Club students, and 5:30-7 p.m. for Senior High Art Club students.
Kelchen received a bachelor's degree in graphic communications and graphic design from the University of Northern Iowa. He works primarily in silkscreen and relief printing and is now a graduate student at the UI Center for the Book, studying letterpress printing, bookbinding and art-book production.
His work has been shown in exhibitions in Iowa City, Cedar Falls, Mason City and Des Moines, as well as in Wisconsin.
The UI Arts Share program provides artistic resources from the Iowa Center for the Arts to schools and community organizations. The 2003 Arts Share roster includes more than 75 faculty and graduate students in music, theater, dance, the visual arts and creative writing.
