UI Hosts Marketing Association Conference
The University of Iowa Chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) will host the AMA Northern Region Conference Nov. 6-8 on the UI campus.
The conference will bring together students studying marketing from AMA university chapters in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Ohio and Wisconsin. Conference sessions will be held Nov. 7 and 8 in the Pappajohn Business Building and the Iowa Memorial Union.
The purpose of the conference is to teach students about the branding process, starting with how to market themselves through the "Brand Youniversity." This program centers around the idea that students need to develop their own personal brand and be able to market it to potential employers, the general public, family and friends in order to achieve a successful professional and personal life.
Workshops about advertising, brand management and direct marketing are also planned. They will be taught by professionals from leading marketing firms and corporate marketing departments, as well as Henry B. Tippie College of Business faculty. Sessions on AMA chapter building and a career fair are also planned.
