Aging Series Set For Adults Who Care For Elders

Adults who care for or provide support to elder parents, relatives or friends are invited to participate in a series of presentations throughout April.

All sessions are free and will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at Parkview Evangelical Free Church, 15 Foster Rd., in Iowa City. The sessions are part of the series, "Aging Parents & Adult Children: Preparing for Change," sponsored by the University of Iowa Center on Aging, UI Family Services Center, John A. Hartford Center for Geriatric Excellence in the UI College of Nursing, the Eastern Iowa International Year of the Older Person, Elder Services, Inc. and Iowa State University Extension.

Following is the schedule of sessions:

Tuesday, April 8
" Long Distance Caregiving," presented by Steve Siglin, family caregiving counseling specialist with Elder Services, Inc., and Linda Bigley, county extension director with ISU Extension.

Tuesday, April 15
" Caregivers: Creating a Financial Path to Peace of Mind," presented by Janet Garkey, resource management specialist with ISU Extension.

Tuesday, April 22
" Navigating Community Services and Family Supports," presented by Janet Specht, Ph.D., UI associate professor of nursing, and Jane Holland, coordinator with UI Family Services

Tuesday, April 29
" Tools for Talking: Strengthening Later-Life Relationships," presented by Kristi Cooper, family life specialist with ISU Extension.
