WSUI/KSUI Postpones Fund Drive To Support War Coverage
Public radio stations WSUI-AM910 and KSUI-FM91.7, a listener supported service of the University of Iowa, today announced that their annual on-air fund drive has been postponed, due to the conflict in Iraq.
"WSUI/KSUI considers it a priority to provide complete coverage of the war situation," said John Monick, director. "We believe the best way to take care of our listeners is to postpone the drive until such a time when it will not interfere with information about the conflict in Iraq."
The weeklong fund drive had been scheduled to begin Saturday, March 29. Previous drives have raised as much as $200,000 from more than 2,000 listeners for the stations. WSUI/KSUI relies on the semi-annual drives to support almost a third of their annual operating budget.
"The stations will announce a new date for the drive shortly. We depend on the generous support of our donors to provide our service, and we will be asking for their help soon," said Monick.
