Still Time To Register For Bridging The Gap Minority Law Conference
More than 100 students are expected to attend this year's "Bridging the Gap" pre-law conference at the UI College of Law for minority students who are considering careers in law.
Applications are still being accepted until 5 p.m. Monday, March 24 for the 26th annual conference, which will be Friday, March 28 at the Boyd Law Building.
This year's conference includes workshops on writing an effective personal statement, Law School Admission Test (LSAT) preparation, law school study skills, financing a legal education and opportunities in law-related fields. Participants will also attend a mock law school class, a law school recruitment fair, and a question-and-answer panel featuring minority lawyers.
Although aimed primarily at current undergraduate students, the conference is open to all minorities seeking more information about law school. The registration fee is $30, which includes materials and meals.
The conference is intended to give participants a taste of law school life that is further enhanced by the opportunity to meet and talk with legal professionals and with law students currently attending the UI College of Law. The law school recruiting fair will provide participants with an opportunity to speak to law school representatives and determine which law schools best meet their needs.
To register, please download the registration form from the "Bridging the Gap" Web site at http://www.law.uiowa.edu/admissions/btg.phg and fax it to the College of Law Admissions Office at (319) 335-9019.
