University of Iowa Police Department News Release

Police Make Arrest In Sexual Assault Case

University of Iowa Police went to the home of 34-year-old Richard Adam Roberts, 2004 10th St. Coralville, Iowa. UI police officer Peter Berkson placed Roberts under arrest at 10:42 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2003. Berkson was the lead investigator and is a member of the University of Iowa Police Sex Crimes Unit.

Roberts' arrest stems from an investigation of a sexual assault that took place at a university residence hall Wednesday, March 12, 2003. Roberts
has been charged with 709.4 (1) of the Iowa Criminal Code, Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree. Coralville Police assisted with the arrest.

Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree is a Class C felony. A Class C felon, not an habitual offender, shall be confined for no more than 10 years, and in addition shall be sentenced to a fine of at least $1,000 but not more than $10,000.
