Local Medical Resident Wins Award for Humanism in Medicine
(Resident name) of (hometown), a resident in the Department of (department name) in the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, was honored with an award for exemplifying humanism in medicine at the college's Student Clinician Ceremony June 27.
(Name) was one of six residents selected for embodying humanism in medicine through interactions with patients and in teaching students. Incoming fourth-year UI medical students chose the award recipients based on their experiences with the residents over the previous year.
(Name) will receive a monetary award, certificate and pin from the Arnold P. Gold Foundation for their contributions to patient care and student education. The Gold Foundation, devoted to fostering humanism in medicine, has implemented Student Clinician and White Coat ceremonies throughout the United States, and has supported the UI Student Clinician Ceremony since 1998.
