UI continues transition period to new login procedure

The University of Iowa Office of Finance and University Services (FUS) is continuing its transition to Enterprise Authentication -- a simplified computer sign-on system that uses the Hawk ID and Hawk ID Password. The transition period, which began Tuesday, Jan. 21, will continue until Monday, Mar. 3. On Jan. 13, the office notified all FUS Application and Human Resources Information System (HRIS) Self-service users of the transition period.

Under the old procedure, users login to an FUS Application and HRIS Self-service portal with a variety of Identifiers (Hawk ID, first and last name, Social Security number, or employee ID) and a Self-service specific password. During the transition period, users are able to use either their Hawk ID and the Self-service specific password or their Hawk ID and the Hawk ID Password. After Monday March 3, users will be able to use only the Hawk ID and the Hawk ID Password.

The goal of the Hawk ID and Hawk ID Password is to provide a simplified sign-on experience for individuals at the University of Iowa. The Hawk ID is the key to several services on campus (ITS, Blue E-mail, UI Remote Access), so it is very important that users know their Hawk ID and associated Hawk ID Password.

For information about the Hawk ID (including those services affected by the change), go to http://hawkid.uiowa.edu. For help or additional questions, please contact the ITS Help Desk at 384-HELP (4357) or at its-helpdesk@uiowa.edu.
