UI Department Of Theatre Arts Holds Iowa New Play Festival Auditions March 9

The University of Iowa department of theatre arts will hold public auditions for the 2003 Iowa New Play Festival noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 8, and 5:30-8:30 p.m. Sunday, March 9 in the UI Theatre Building. A sign-up sheet is posted on the Theatre Building callboard.

This season's plays include numerous roles for actors and actresses in an age range from the 30s through the 70s. Auditioners will be asked to read from scripts provided, and no prepared presentation is required.

Affiliation with the UI or the department of theatre arts is not required to participate in productions of the Iowa New Play Festival.

The festival, with performances May 5-10, is a showcase for new scripts from the Iowa Playwrights Workshop. Rehearsal times and periods for the productions will vary, but will typically begin several weeks before the performances.
