WRAC Sponsors International Women's Day Event
The Women's Resource and Action Center at the University of Iowa will co-sponsor an International Women's Day celebration on Saturday March 8 from 8 p.m. to midnight in the Richey Ballroom of the Iowa Memorial Union.
Interactive entertainment will include Sudanese drumming, Middle Eastern/Far Eastern dance, and an all-girl band from local high schools. There will also be tables where participants can practice Japanese paper folding and try mendhi (henna) hand and foot painting.
There will be international finger foods, a cash bar, and information tables from sponsoring organizations as part of the festivities. Co-sponsors include the Iowa United Nations Association, the Emma Goldman Clinic, Iowa Women Initiating Social Change (IWIS), Iowa Women's Foundation, UI Labor Center, and the Iowa City Human Rights Commission.
Advance tickets are $10 per person, $5 for students or those living on lower incomes. Tickets will be available at the door for $12/$7.
