Von Stange Appointed Director Of UI Residence Services
Von Stange has been appointed to replace Maggie Van Oel as director of residence services at the University of Iowa effective Jan. 5.
Stange has been the director of university housing at the University of South Dakota since 1994. Prior to being director, he was associate director of residential life for resident education and university judicial coordinator at the University of South Dakota. He was a residence area coordinator at Lehigh University and a residence hall director and office supervisor at Texas Tech University. He holds a Ph.D. in education from the University of South Dakota in educational administration/adult and higher education.
"Von brings excellent professional preparation and experience to the position. He is an enthusiastic and energetic leader and we look forward to him joining our team," said Phillip E. Jones, UI vice president for student services and dean of students.
The director of residence services is responsible for planning and directing all functions of university-owned and operated student residence halls including programming and apartments. Van Oel is retiring Jan. 2 after a 32-year career at the UI Department of Residence Services.
