Local UI Student Inducted To Communications Honor Society

A group of 58 students who are majoring in communication studies in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences have been inducted to the inaugural class of the UI chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association.

As an accredited member of the Association of College Honor Societies, Lambda Pi Eta has nearly 300 active chapters at colleges and universities worldwide. To become a member of a Lambda Pi Eta chapter, students must have completed at least 60 semester hours in college, have completed at least 12 semester hours of communication study, have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0, have a communication studies grade point average of at least 3.25, and display commitment to the field of communication.

The UI's new Lambda Pi Eta members are listed alphabetically according to hometown, with Iowa towns listed first followed by other states.

AURELIA: Jessica Radke of Aurelia, a senior in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Radke, who is studying communication studies and plans to attend law school, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Radke is a 2000 graduate of Aurelia High School and the daughter of Doug and Barb Radke.

ATLANTIC: Jeff Glade of Atlantic, a sophomore in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Glade, who is studying communication studies with a minor in cinema and earning an entrepreneurial certificate, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Glade is a 2002 graduate of Atlantic High School and the son of Larry and Patty Glade.

BURLINGTON: Mark Beverlin Jr. of Burlington, a senior in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Beverlin, who is studying Communications Studies with minors in journalism and American Indian and Native Studies, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Beverlin is a 1997 graduate of Burlington High School and the son of Mark and Melanie Beverlin.

CEDAR RAPIDS: Katherine Dolter of Cedar Rapids, a senior in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Dolter, who is studying communications, sociology and environmental studies, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Dolter is a 2000 graduate of Washington High School and the daughter of Kathy Russell and Mark Dolter.

CEDAR RAPIDS: Shauna Gray of Cedar Rapids, a senior in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Gray, who is studying English and communication studies, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Gray is a 1999 graduate of Washington High School and the daughter of David and Marti Gray.

CAMANCHE: Michele Wisor of Camanche, a senior in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Wisor, who is studying communication studies and journalism, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Wisor is a 2000 graduate of Camanche High School and the daughter of Tom and Cindy Wisor.

CLIVE: Jennifer Eklof of Clive, a senior in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Eklof, who is studying communication studies and journalism, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Eklof is a 2000 graduate of West Des Moines Valley High School and the daughter of Jim and Jane Eklof.

DEWITT: Jennifer Keil of DeWitt, a senior in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Keil, who is studying communication studies and health and sports studies, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Keil is a 2000 graduate of Central DeWitt High School and the daughter of Kevin and Janet Keil.

DOW CITY: Rheanne Laubscher of Dow City, a senior in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Laubscher, who is studying English and communication studies and plans to attend law school, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Laubscher is a 2000 graduate of Boyer Valley High School and the daughter of Rolly and Renita Laubscher.

GILMORE CITY: Kevin Lynch of Gilmore City, a senior in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Lynch, who is studying communication studies and political science, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Lynch is a 2000 graduate of Twin River Valley High School and the son of Robert and Linda Lynch of Gilmore City.

IOWA CITY: Karen Karr of Iowa City, a senior in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Karr, who is studying communication studies, journalism, and entrepreneurship, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Karr is a 2000 graduate of Regina High School and the daughter of George and Marian Karr.

IOWA FALLS: Ashly Brown of Iowa Falls, a sophomore in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Brown, who is studying communication studies and business, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Brown is a 2002 graduate of Iowa Falls High School and the daughter of Don and Barb Brown.

JOHNSTON: Tia Nicole Krultz of Johnston, a senior in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Krultz, who is studying communication studies, international business, and Spanish, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Krultz is a 2000 graduate of Johnston High School and the daughter of Gary and Carol Krultz of Johnston.

MISSOURI VALLEY: Chad Alexander of Missouri Valley, a senior in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Alexander, who is studying communication studies and marketing, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Alexander is a 1999 graduate of Tri-Center High School and the son of Brian and Jody Alexander.

OGDEN: Mark Anthoney of Ogden, a senior in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Anthoney, who is double majoring in communication studies and cinema, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Anthoney is a 2000 graduate of Ogden High School and the son of David and Susan Anthoney.

OLIN: Anna Broulik of Olin, a senior in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Broulik, who is studying communication studies with a minor in health and sport studies and earning a certificate in entrepreneurship, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Broulik is a 2000 graduate of Olin High School and the daughter of Dale and Brenda Broulik.

ONAWA: Brandi Carrier of Onawa, a senior in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Carrier, who is studying communication studies with a business minor, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Carrier is a 2000 graduate of West Monona Community High School and the daughter of Allen and Debbie Carrier.

OREFIELD: Jessica Zosky of Orefield, a senior in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Zosky, who is studying journalism and mass communications, communication studies and health and sports studies, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Zosky is a 1999 graduate of Parkland Senior High School and the daughter of Philip and Debi Zosky.

OSAGE: Lyndsay Gross of Osage, a senior in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Gross, who is studying journalism and communication studies, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Gross is a 2000 graduate of Osage High School and the daughter of Rick and Lori Gross.

PLAINFIELD: Natalie Ford of Plainfield, a senior in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Ford, who is studying communication studies and journalism, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Ford is a 2000 graduate of Plainfield High School and the daughter of Steve and Teresa Ford.

POSTVILLE: Brandi Grahlman of Postville, a senior in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Grahlman, who is studying journalism and communication studies with a minor in theatre, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Grahlman is a 2000 graduate of Postville High School and the daughter of Bob and Barb Grahlman.

SHUEYVILLE: Misti Huedepohl of Shueyville, a senior in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Huedepohl, who is studying communication studies and English, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Huedepohl is a 1987 graduate of Shellsburg Community High School and the daughter of Norman McClintock of Shellsburg and Jeanette McClintock of Waverly.

STUART: Grant Sloss of Stuart, a senior in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Sloss, who is studying communication studies and theatre arts, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Sloss is a 2000 graduate of West Central High School and the son of Bill and Sharon Sloss.

URBANDALE: Jennifer Allen of Urbandale, a junior in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Allen, who is studying communication studies and international business with minors in psychology and history, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Allen is a 2001 graduate of Dowling Catholic High School and the daughter of Bob and Deb Allen.

WATERLOO: Allison Frederick of Waterloo, a senior in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Frederick, who is studying communication studies and journalism, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Frederick is a 2000 graduate of Waterloo West High School and the daughter of Roger and Cindy Frederick.

WEST DES MOINES: Allison Neswold of West Des Moines, a senior in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Neswold, who is studying journalism and communications studies, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Neswold is a 2000 graduate of Valley High School and the daughter of Jim and Vicki Neswold.

ADDISON: Jim Reid of Addison, Ill., a senior in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Reid, who is studying communication studies and business and plans to attend law school, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Reid is a 1999 graduate of Addison Trail High School and the son of Frank and Betty Reid.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS: Kristen Schaap of Arlington Heights, Ill., a senior in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Schaap, who is studying communication studies and history, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Schaap is a 2000 graduate of Buffalo Grove High School and the daughter of Dave and Bonnie Schaap.

CAROL STREAM: Lauren K. Stabler, who is studying communication studies and journalism, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Stabler is a 2000 graduate of Stark County High School and the daughter of John and Shirley Stabler.

Minnesota

ST. CLOUD: Elisa Ewing of St. Cloud, Minn., a senior in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Ewing, who is studying English, French, and communication studies, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Ewing is a 2000 graduate of Apollo High School.

Wisconsin

CROSS PLAINS: Betsy Kuehn of Cross Plains, Wis., a senior in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently inducted as a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Kuehn, who is studying communications and journalism with a minor in Spanish, is one of 58 UI students in the inaugural class of the UI Lambda Pi Eta chapter. Kuehn is a 2000 graduate of Middleton High School and the daughter of Tom and Patty Kuehn.
