UI Student Engineers Recognized At National Conference
The University of Iowa College of Engineering student chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) received three awards during the organization's November 2003 Annual Student Conference in San Francisco.
For the 11th consecutive year, the UI received the "Outstanding Student Chapter Award," recognizing student chapters with an exceptional level of participation, enthusiasm, program quality, professionalism and involvement in the university and community. Winning included receiving a plaque and certificate.
For the second consecutive year, the UI received third place for "Outstanding Student Chapter Web Page Award," recognizing excellent Web pages created and published by AIChE student chapters and consisting of a certificate and $300.
Tracy J. Irwin, a UI junior from North Liberty, Iowa, received one of 15 "Donald
F. & Mildred Topp Othmer National Scholarship Awards," for academic
achievement and involvement in student chapter activities and consisting
of a $1,000 scholarship.
