KHAK-FM Radiothon To Benefit Children's Hospital Of Iowa
The KHAK-FM morning team of the Brain and the Bear will broadcast their seventh annual radiothon to support Children's Miracle Network Sept. 9-12 in the Main Lobby of University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Proceeds of the 100-hour event will benefit patients of Children's Hospital of Iowa at UI Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City and its outreach clinics. One hundred percent of all donations to the radiothon remain in the local region to benefit critically ill and injured children. More than 100,000 children receive care at Children's Hospital of Iowa each year.
"Radiothon and Children's Miracle Network have changed me and my outlook on life. The challenges that these kids face every day help me realize that my problems in life aren't that paramount," said the Brain. "We're able to bring some joy and smiles to these kids and to their families. The radiothon we do every year is the best station event we have. It's real, genuine, human drama. It is the story of joy, sorrow, sacrifice and, most of all, hope."
"You can't talk to these kids and their parents and not be moved by their courage and grace under pressure," added the Bear. "They are the reason that we do this every year, and there is no better cause for us to support."
The event will begin at 6 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, and conclude at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12. The co-hosts will share the stories of former and current patients of Children's Hospital of Iowa, and the dedicated physicians, nurses and other health care professionals who care for them.
