Midwest Environmental Chemistry Workshop Set For Oct. 11-12
The 26th Annual Midwest Engineering Chemistry Workshop will be Oct. 11-12 on the University of Iowa campus at the Seamans Center for the Engineering Arts and Sciences.
The workshop will feature keynote speakers Jerry Schnoor, Allen S. Henry Chair of Engineering, professor of civil and environmental engineering, editor of the journal Environmental Science & Technology, and co-director of the Center for Global and Regional Environmental Research; Vicki Grassian, Edwin B. Green Associate Professor of Laser Chemistry at the University of Iowa; and Dana Kolpin, research hydrologist, U.S. Geological Survey.
Topics will include environmental chemistry, environmental toxicology, environmental engineering, atmospheric chemistry and environmental analysis. Event organizers, in addition to the UI and UI College of Engineering, are the department of civil and environmental engineering and the UI environmental engineering and science program.
Participants will have the opportunity to tour the UI Environmental Engineering and Science Laboratory, the Lucille A. Carver Mississippi Riverside Environmental Research Station and the C. Maxwell Stanley Hydraulics Laboratory, which houses the UI College of Engineering's IIHR -- Hydroscience & Engineering program, one of the world's premier and oldest fluids research and engineering laboratories.
