UI Students Win NSF Graduate Fellowships

(Name) of (hometown), who earned a (name of degree, college and year) at the University of Iowa, has won a 2003-04 National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Fellowship Award.

The award consists of an annual $27,500 stipend, plus tuition and discretionary funds for up to three years of support. (Name) plans to pursue graduate studies at the (name of institution).

The eight UI winners were among some 900 winners nationwide. Many of the NSF Fellowships were awarded to students in engineering, with others coming from the natural sciences and such fields as anthropology, sociology, economics, political science and the history and philosophy of science.
