Summer Commencement Is Today
Two commencement ceremonies on Friday, Aug. 1 will mark the end of the summer 2003 academic session at the University of Iowa. Doctoral and master's degrees will be conferred in a 2 p.m. ceremony at Hancher Auditorium. Bachelor's degrees will be awarded in a 7:30 p.m. ceremony, also at Hancher.
There will be 1,000 summer degree candidates, including 375 graduate students and 625 undergraduates. UI president David Skorton will confer degrees at both ceremonies. Seating for the undergraduate ceremony is reserved. The 2 p.m. graduate commencement is open to the public; no tickets are required.
Both graduate and undergraduate commencements Aug.1 will be broadcast live on UITV and the web. The commencements will be saved for future viewing on the web as video-on-demand. Links to view both ceremonies on the web can be found on the Office the Registrar's site at http://www.uiowa.edu/registrar/commencement.
UITV is channel 17 for the Iowa City - Coralville cable franchise. UITV is channel 4 on the University cable system. Viewers in surrounding communities should check their cable lineup for the appropriate UITV channel number.
