Ronald McDonald House Run/Walk Is May 4

The Ronald McDonald House Of Iowa City will host its 19th annual Family Run/Walk Sunday, May 4.

The one-mile run/walk will begin at 1 p.m., and the 5K run/walk will begin at 1:45 p.m. There also will be a 30-yard Kid's Fun Run for children ages 3 to 5 immediately following the 5K run/walk.

The run/walk will begin and end in Parking Lot 46, between Carver Hawkeye Arena and the Ronald McDonald House. Free parking will be available in the Carver Hawkeye Arena Commuter Lot.

Entry fees are $25 for adults and $10 for kids ages 14 and under. The Kid's Fun Run is free, and a prize will be awarded to all finishers. Master Card and Visa are accepted, and checks may be made payable to the Ronald McDonald House. All proceeds benefit the Iowa City Ronald McDonald House.

Packets may be picked up Friday, May 2 from noon to 7 p.m. Packets also will be available on race day from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the west entrance of Carver Hawkeye Arena. T-shirts will be included in the race packets.

Trophies are awarded to the first-place male and female finishers in both races. Medals will be given to the first-, second- and third-place finishers in all age/sex groups in the 5K run/walk. Ribbons will be given to the first- and second-place finishers in all age/sex groups in the one-mile run/walk.

The Iowa City Ronald McDonald House is a "home away from home" for families with children receiving critical medical treatment at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. This Run/Walk serves as an important fundraiser for the House, which does not receive any state or federal tax assistance and operates solely on private gifts.
