UI Hosts Dual Career Network Conference
The University of Iowa's Dual Career Network is hosting the first international dual career programs conference to provide an opportunity for managers of dual career services programs to share ideas and materials.
The meeting will be held Friday, April 25 in the North Room of the Iowa Memorial Union.
The Dual Career Network assists new faculty and staff spouses/partners in finding work. Other universities that will participate in the conference are: Purdue University, Iowa State University, University of Minnesota, University of Nebraska at Kearney, University of Michigan, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Cincinnati, Cornell University, University of Northern Iowa, Johns Hopkins University, University of Maryland, University of Arkansas, University of Toronto, University of Guelph in Ontario, and Texas A&M University.
"There's a tremendous need for all of us who do this kind of work to get together, share our ideas and begin to establish some benchmarks for these programs," said Joan Murrin, director of UI's Dual Career Network, adding that she hopes attendees will come away with information which will help them provide better services, and that the meeting will be the impetus to form a professional association.
