UI Dance Concert Considers 'Sex, God and Board Games'
The University of Iowa Dance Department will present "Amalgam: Seven Dances about Sex, God and Board Games," an honors thesis project by undergraduate dance major Meghan Beresford, at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, May 2 and 3, in the Space/Place Theatre of UI North Hall.
Beresford choreographed the dances to music ranging from contemporary piano to the Rolling Stones, and her choreography is also eclectic. "The concert is an amalgamation in the truest sense of the word," Beresford says. "The works range from abstract modern dance to family-oriented comedy. There's really something for everyone."
Beresford, a graduate of St. Albert High School in Council Bluffs, was the recipient of an Honors Program Dean's Scholarship to attend the UI.
Admission will be $10 ($5 for UI students). Tickets are available in advance from the University Box Office in the Iowa Memorial Union, 319-335-3041 or toll-free 800-346-4401. The fax number is 319-335-3407. Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 5-9 p.m. Sunday. Any remaining tickets will be placed on sale at the door.
