UI Returns To Yellow Alert Status

The University of Iowa is responding to the federal Department of Homeland Security's decision to lower the terror alert level to yellow status, or "elevated," from orange, or "high."

"This basically means we're back to normal operating procedures," said Charles Green, UI assistant vice president and director of public safety. "Please continue to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to our department."

Yellow is the third of five possible color-coded alert statuses, which are (from lowest to greatest threat of terror attacks) low (green), guarded (blue), elevated (yellow), high (orange) and severe (red).
