Prospective graduate students invited to UI Open House Oct. 10

Current undergraduates and others interested in pursuing an advanced degree at the University of Iowa can learn about the university's more than 100 graduate research degree programs at the 2002 Graduate College Open House on Thursday, Oct. 10, from noon to 4 p.m. in the Richey Ballroom of the Iowa Memorial Union.

Representatives from more than 50 departments and programs will be on hand to answer questions, and faculty and staff from the Graduate College will be available to provide information about programs that are unable to send a representative. Last year's open house drew several hundred prospective students from all over Eastern Iowa, and organizers expect a larger crowd this year.

Departments and programs planning to send a representative to the open house include accounting, anthropology, art and art history, biological sciences, biosciences, chemistry, classics, dentistry, education, educational psychology, engineering, English, genetics, health and sport studies, history, journalism and mass communication, linguistics, mathematics, music, neuroscience, pharmacy, physician assistant program, physics and astronomy, public health, religious studies, second language acquisition, sociology, Spanish and Portuguese, theatre arts, urban and regional planning, women's studies, and more.

"The University of Iowa offers a broad array of graduate programs, many of which are highly regarded in their respective fields," said John Keller, Graduate College dean. "This is a great opportunity for personal interaction with faculty, staff, and current students who know the programs inside and out and can answer any type of question."
