Public invited to seminar on hormone replacement therapy Oct. 15
Area residents are invited to hear a University of Iowa Health Care expert
discuss hormone replacement therapy (HRT) at a free community seminar at 6:30
p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15 at the Holiday Inn Conference Center, 1220 First Ave.
This program is part of the "Health For Your Lifetime" series
presented by UI Health Care.
Susan R. Johnson, M.D., UI professor of obstetrics and gynecology, will
present a comprehensive overview of hormone replacement therapy. The program
will include discussion of the recent findings of the Women's Health Initiative
study concerning postmenopausal women who are taking a combination of estrogen
and progesterone for hormone replacement therapy.
Discussion will also include:
-- When hormones are still okay;
-- When hormones should not be used;
-- Current thoughts on hot flashes, heart disease and osteoporosis.
A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation.
