Mike Brooks of West Des Moines Elected King of 2002 University of Iowa Homecoming Court
Mike Brooks of West Des Moines was elected king of the Homecoming Court during the 2002 Homecoming ceremonies at the University of Iowa. Brooks, a senior at Iowa, was one of eight persons elected to the Homecoming Court, which presided over the university’s annual homecoming ceremonies the week of Sept. 30. The week featured parades, a pep rally, football game and numerous events that brought thousands of former Hawkeyes back to Iowa City. University alumnus and Des Moines businessman John Pappajohn addressed the pep rally, and UI women’s basketball coach Lisa Bluder was the grand marshal of the homecoming parade.
