Local UI student wins physical therapy scholarship
Mary Elizabeth Ryan, daughter of Patrick and Kathleen Ryan of Council Bluffs,
recently received a $500 scholarship from the University of Iowa Physical
Therapy and Rehabilitation Science Graduate Program.
Ryan, a second-year graduate student in physical therapy, received the Tracy
Dahl Class of 1979 Memorial Scholarship. Criteria for the award include: a
tremendous spirit for life, a great sense of humor, dedication to the profession
of physical therapy, ability to communicate effectively, a desire to provide
the highest quality patient care and an interest in advancing knowledge through
research. The award is made possible by the physical therapy class of 1979
in memory of their classmate, Tracy Dahl.
At the UI, Ryan has served as an active student representative at the physical
therapy program faculty meetings and on the program's Admissions and Curriculum
Committee. She has an interest in nutrition as it relates to athletic performance.
Ryan received a bachelor's degree in athletic training from St. Ambrose
University in Davenport, Iowa in 2001. She plans to graduate from the UI in
University of Iowa Health Care describes the partnership between the
UI Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine and UI Hospitals and Clinics
and the patient care, medical education and research programs and services
