Local UI student advises Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean

BELLE PLAINE: Molly Schild of Belle Plaine has been named to the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean's Student Advisory Committee for the 2002-03 academic year. Schild, a sophomore at the UI, is pursuing a major in political science. She is the daughter of Scott and Joan Schild and a 2001 graduate of Belle Plaine High School.

Linda Maxson, Dean of the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, relies on the committee members to keep her informed of student concerns. The group meets with Maxson and the college's associate deans twice a semester to discuss a range of issues including instruction, degree requirements, advising, research opportunities, course availability and internship experiences.

BETTENDORF: Maggie Bacon of Bettendorf has been named to the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean's Student Advisory Committee for the 2002-03 academic year. Bacon, a first-year student at the UI, is pursuing a double major in physics and astronomy. She is the daughter of Lynda Kruss and Richard Bacon and a 2002 graduate of Pleasant Valley High School.

CEDAR RAPIDS: Dan Crosby and Jennifer Kruse, both of Cedar Rapids, have been named to the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean's Student Advisory Committee for the 2002-03 academic year. Crosby, a junior at the UI, is pursuing a major in history. He is the son of Tim and Diane Crosby and a 2000 graduate of Prairie High School. Kruse, a sophomore at the UI, is pursuing a major in Spanish and pre-medicine. She is the daughter of Brian and Patty Kruse and a 2001 graduate of Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School.

DES MOINES: Steve Purtle of Des Moines has been named to the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean's Student Advisory Committee for the 2002-03 academic year. Purtle, a freshman at the UI, is pursuing a major in chemistry. He is the son of Mark and Mary Purtle and a 2002 graduate of Dowling High School.

IOWA CITY: Erika Lord of Iowa City has been named to the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean's Student Advisory Committee for the 2002-03 academic year. Lord, a senior at the UI, is pursuing a double major in literature, sciences, and the arts, and music education. She is the daughter of Elizabeth and Michael Lord and a 1999 graduate of Iowa City High School.

SOLON: Forrest Meggers of Solon has been named to the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean's Student Advisory Committee for the 2002-03 academic year. Meggers, a senior at the UI, is pursuing degrees in astronomy, physics, and mechanical engineering. He is the son of Jane and Mike Meggers and a 1999 graduate of Solon High School.

URBANDALE: Melehia Frauenholtz of Urbandale has been named to the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean's Student Advisory Committee for the 2002-03 academic year. Frauenholtz, a sophomore at the UI, is pursuing a major in biochemistry. She is the daughter of Bonny and Darwin Frauenholtz and a 2001 graduate of Urbandale High School.

WEST DES MOINES: Michael Brooks of West Des Moines has been named to the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean's Student Advisory Committee for the 2002-03 academic year. Brooks, a senior at the UI, is pursuing a major in literature, science, and the arts. He is the son of Dean Brooks and Suzan Kelsey Brooks and is a 1999 graduate of Valley High School.

ILLINOIS

ELGIN: Jesse Elliott of Elgin has been named to the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean's Student Advisory Committee for the 2002-03 academic year. Elliott, a senior at the UI, is pursuing a double major in literature, science, and the arts and political science. He is the son of Mark and Lucy Elliott and a 1999 graduate of Elgin High School.

HAWTHORN WOODS: Jessica Brady of Hawthorn Woods has been named to the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean's Student Advisory Committee for the 2002-03 academic year. Brady, a junior at the UI, is pursuing a major in journalism and political science. She is the daughter of Nick and Shari Brady and a 2000 graduate of Lake Zurich Senior High School.
