UI commencement ceremonies slated for May 16-19

Nine University of Iowa colleges will hold commencement exercises during a four-day period from May 16-19. More than 3,500 degrees are expected to be conferred. An additional 70 degrees will be awarded at the College of Dentistry commencement to be held June 7.

Here is the schedule of commencement ceremonies for each college, including the number of degree candidates:

College of Pharmacy: Thursday, May 16, 10 a.m., Hancher Auditorium. Number of degrees to be conferred: 100. Degrees will be conferred by Phillip Jones, vice president for student services and dean of students.

Henry B. Tippie School of Management (MBA program): Friday, May 17, 10 a.m., Hancher Auditorium. Number of degrees to be conferred: 170. Provost Jon Whitmore will confer the degrees.

Graduate College: Friday, May 17, 2 p.m., Hancher Auditorium. Number of degrees to be conferred: 610. Degrees will be conferred by President Mary Sue Coleman.

The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine: Friday, May 17, 7:30 p.m., Hancher Auditorium. Number of degrees to be conferred:170. Degrees will be conferred by Robert Kelch, vice president for statewide health services and dean of the UI Carver College of Medicine.

Henry B. Tippie College of Business: Saturday, May 18, 9 a.m., Hancher Auditorium. Number of degrees to be conferred: 530. Degrees will be conferred by Lola Lopes, associate provost.

College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and College of Education: Saturday, May 18, 9 a.m., Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Number of degrees to be conferred: 1,550. Degrees will be conferred by President Mary Sue Coleman.

College of Law: Saturday, May 18, 1 p.m., Hancher Auditorium. Number of degrees to be conferred: 205. Degrees will be conferred by Provost Jon Whitmore.

College of Nursing: Saturday, May 18, 5 p.m., Hancher Auditorium. Number of degrees to be conferred: 125. Degrees will be conferred by Phillip Jones, vice president for student services and dean of students.

College of Engineering: Sunday, May 19, 1 p.m., Hancher Auditorium. Number of degrees to be conferred: 125. Degrees will be conferred by Associate Provost Steven Hoch.

College of Dentistry: Friday, June 7, 3 p.m., Hancher Auditorium. Number of degree candidates: 70. Degrees will be conferred by Associate Provost Kathleen Buckwalter.

Commencement ceremonies of the following colleges are open to the public: Law; Pharmacy; Henry B. Tippie School of Management; Liberal Arts and Sciences; Nursing; Dentistry and Engineering. For commencements of the UI Carver College of Medicine, the Graduate College, and the Henry B. Tippie College of Business, guests must obtain tickets from a graduate.
