UI engineering lecture scheduled May 9
Ravi V. Bellamkonda, associate professor and principal investigator, Biomaterials,
Cell and Tissue Engineering Laboratory, department of biomedical engineering
at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, will deliver a Caterpillar
Distinguished Lecture at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, May 9, in Room 2229 of the Seamans
Center for the Engineering Arts and Sciences.
Bellamkonda, whose areas of research interest include biomaterials, neural
and vascular cell and tissue engineering, nerve regeneration, and controlled
drug delivery, will speak on, "A Tale of Bridges and Dams: Tissue Engineering
in the Peripheral and Central Nervous System."
The lecture, free and open to the public, is sponsored by the University
of Iowa College of Engineering and the Caterpillar Foundation.
The Caterpillar Distinguished Lecture Colloquium is made possible by grants
awarded to the UI College of Engineering through the UI Foundation by the
Caterpillar Foundation of Peoria, Ill. The grants comprise the Caterpillar
Excellence Fund, which aids student, faculty and curriculum development in
the College of Engineering.
