Pharmacy resident receives psychopharmacology fellowship
Ryan Carnahan, a clinical psychopharmacology resident in the University
of Iowa College of Pharmacy, was awarded the American College of Clinical
Pharmacy Research Fellowship.
The fellowship will support Carnahan's psychopharmacology research and residency
training. Funding is for one year following a psychopharmacology residency.
This fellowship provides funding for Carnahan to pursue clinical research
experience and training under the direct guidance of a clinic pharmaceutical
scientist. Carnahan will study with Paul Perry, Ph.D., UI professor of psychiatry
Carnahan is currently conducting pharmaceutical outcome studies involving
psychiatric drugs using pharmacy and medical claims databases. He is also
conducting geriatric psychopharmacology studies investigating which drugs
are predisposed to causing delirium in nursing home patients.
