UI seeks men and women for cholesterol and blood pressure study

Men and women, ages 18 to 75, who have elevated cholesterol and high blood pressure are invited to take part in a study being conducted at the University of Iowa College of Public Health. People with diabetes may qualify also.

The study will measure the effectiveness of different dose combinations of two approved medications for lowering cholesterol and blood pressure, compared to either medication alone or a placebo. The study will last about four months and consist of six to 15 visits to the UI Lipid Research Clinic. Qualified participants will receive a physical exam, ECG, blood work evaluation, nutrition counseling and study medication. Compensation will be provided.

For more information, call the UI Lipid Research Clinic at (319) 384-5048 or toll-free at (800) 887-6917.
