B100 To Broadcast 2nd Annual Radiothon to Support CMN

Julia Bradley and Jeff James of B100 99.7 FM will host their second radiothon to support the Children's Miracle Network Aug. 13-17 at North Park Mall in Davenport.

Proceeds of the event will benefit patients of the Children's Hospital of Iowa at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City and its outreach clinics. One hundred percent of all donations to the radiothon remain in the local region to benefit critically ill and injured children. More than 100,000 children receive care at the Children's Hospital of Iowa each year, including thousands from eastern Iowa and western Illinois. Last year, B100 99.7 FM raised $45,100 during the 100-hour event.

"We are so proud of our listeners," Bradley said. "They really came through last year when we asked them to support the children who are treated at the Children's Hospital of Iowa, and I know they will be even more supportive this year."

"The radiothon is an incredible experience for us as well. The stories that the children and their families share with us are always very moving," said co-host James.

The event kicks off at 5:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 13, and concludes at noon Saturday, Aug. 17. Bradley and James will share the stories of former and current patients of the Children's Hospital of Iowa, and the dedicated physicians, nurses and other health care professionals who care for them.

Children's Miracle Network is an international non-profit organization dedicated to helping children by raising funds and awareness for 170 children's hospitals throughout North America. Children's Miracle Network partners with 135 radio stations and 200 television stations to help support critically ill and injured children. Since it inception in 1983, Children's Miracle Network has raised more than $2 billion for children's hospitals, including $229 million in 2001 alone.
