Iowa City resident Judith Moessner has been appointed to the newly created position of marketing manager for the University of Iowa Division of Performing Arts. Responsibilities of the new position include management of marketing and activities related to audience development and audience relations for campus performance events produced by the division.

The UI Division of Performing Arts was created in 2000 and comprises the UI School of Music, the department of dance, the department of theatre arts and the Center for New Music. Its performance companies include University Theatres; Iowa Summer Rep; the Martha-Ellen Tye Opera Theater; UI orchestras, bands and choral ensembles; Dancers in Company; the UI Dance Company; and the Center for New Music.

Moessner has served as director of theatre relations for the UI department of theatre arts, with responsibility for house management and marketing for productions of University Theatres and Iowa Summer Rep. Prior to that, she had served as director of promotions and group sales for the Old Creamery Theatre Company in the Amanas, and she has worked for Markham/Novell Communications, Inc., and NLP&F Advertising, Inc., in New York. She has been a writer and graphic designer for her own business, SceneOne Design and Marketing for the Performing Arts.

A graduate of the UI with a bachelor's degree in English and dance, Moessner is a dancer, actress and choreographer. She appeared in the summer 2000 Iowa Summer Rep production of Edward Albee's "Seascape," as well as University Theatres gallery productions and the Iowa New Play Festival. She has also performed extensively in New York and is a founding member of the Iowa City dance company Travelers.
