Community invited to UI seminar on refractive eye surgery March 6
Area residents are invited to hear University of Iowa Health Care experts
discuss refractive eye surgery, including laser vision correction, at 7 p.m.
March 6 at the Clarion Conference Center in Coralville.
Ophthalmologists John Sutphin, M.D., professor (clinical), Michael Wagoner,
M.D., professor (clinical), and Ayad Farjo, M.D., assistant professor (clinical),
all faculty members in the UI department of ophthalmology and visual sciences,
will present, "Is Refractive Eye Surgery Right for You?" This free
community program is part of the "Health For Your Lifetime" series
presented by UI Health Care.
This presentation will include discussion of:
-- A comprehensive overview of laser eye surgery as well as who are the
best candidates for the surgery;
-- Therapeutic treatment with the Excimer laser;
-- Surgical alternatives to LASIK surgery for the treatment of farsightedness.
The presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session.
Sutphin's clinical expertise is in corneal surgery, conjunctival surgery,
refractive surgery, ocular infections and photoretractive keratectomy.
Wagoner's clinical expertise is in ophthalmology, cornea and external eye
Farjo's clinical expertise is in anterior segment ocular diseases, corneal
transplantation, intraocular lens implantation and keratorefractive procedures.
