Ferentz to headline CMN Kickoff Luncheon Aug. 28

University of Iowa head football coach Kirk Ferentz will appear at the Children's Miracle Network Kickoff Luncheon from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the University Athletic Club, 1360 Melrose Ave. in Iowa City.

Seating is limited, but tickets remain available at a cost of $25 a person. To order tickets, call the Children's Miracle Network at (319) 335-8484.

Proceeds of the event will benefit patients of the Children's Hospital of Iowa at UI Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City and its outreach clinics across the state. One hundred percent of all donations to Children's Miracle Network remain in the local region to benefit critically ill and injured children. More than 100,000 children receive care from the pediatric specialists at the Children's Hospital of Iowa each year.

Children's Miracle Network is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children by raising funds and awareness for 170 children's hospitals throughout North America. One hundred thirty-five radio stations and 200 television stations help solicit donations to help support critically ill and injured children. Since it inception in 1983, Children's Miracle Network has raised more than $2 billion for children's hospitals, including $229 million in 2001 alone.
