UI Health Care physician to lead international professional society
A University of Iowa Health Care physician recently won election as president
of the International Perimetric Society (IPS).
Michael Wall, M.D., a neuro-ophthalmologist, holds joint appointments as
a professor in the UI departments of neurology and ophthalmology and visual
sciences. He attended medical school at Tulane University in New Orleans,
La. Wall served his residency in neurology at Washington University Affiliated
Hospitals in St. Louis, Mo., and a fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology at the
Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary/Harvard Medical School in Boston. He is
board certified in neurology with clinical expertise in neuro-ophthalmology,
pseudotumor cerebri, optic neuritis and optic nerve disease.
Wall has also served as secretary of IPS, as well as chairman of its program
and editorial committees.
IPS was founded in 1974 to promote the study of normal and abnormal visual
function in the visual field. The 300 members of the society work to develop
perimetric standards, promote research and facilitate the cooperation and
friendship of scientists of different nations working and interested in the
discipline.
